Pritpal Chana Architects was commissioned to take over the design of this new-build family home in Four Oaks after construction had already begun. With the foundations already in place, the existing footprint needed to be retained, so the brief focused on reworking the external appearance of the property and giving the house a more considered architectural identity.
The project provided an opportunity to refine the original scheme while working within the constraints of the structure already on site.
DESIGN APPROACH:
Our client preferred a more contemporary
design than originally envisioned.
Despite the constraints of the existing footings,
we introduced a new gable feature and an
overhanging entrance. We also combined
modern materials with the traditional brick finish
to create a distinct aesthetic.
